London, 5th November 2025 – The World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance (the Alliance) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Egypt’s Regional Technology Center (RTC) to accelerate digital transformation and boost sustainable employability across Africa’s hospitality and tourism industry.
As Africa’s hotel and tourism sectors continue their rapid expansion, new skills and digital solutions are essential to drive inclusive growth and operational excellence. This partnership combines the Alliance’s global sustainability expertise with RTC’s technology capabilities to create a digital ecosystem that empowers local talent and strengthens the region’s hospitality value chain.
“This collaboration is a vital step in supporting local communities, driving economic opportunity, and helping the hospitality workforce thrive in a digital world,” said Glenn Mandziuk, President & CEO of the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance. “Together, we are unlocking technology’s potential to create a skilled, empowered, and sustainability-driven hospitality sector across Africa.”
Key Areas of Collaboration
- Regional Innovation Hub
A new hub will foster collaboration among governments, hotel groups, vocational institutions, and technology partners to support innovation in guest experience, energy management, and sustainability performance. - Digital Employability Programme
The Alliance’s employability programme will be digitised into a scalable learning platform, featuring e-learning modules, interactive certification, and AI-powered job-matching to link trained participants with hospitality employers. - Empowering TVET Institutions
The initiative will provide hospitality and technical schools with digital infrastructure and custom learning portals to improve skills training, employability, and service standards across Africa. - Alliance Academy Platform
A new multilingual platform will deliver training in operations, guest services, food and beverage management, and sustainability, enhanced by gamified learning tools and analytics dashboards - Government Collaboration
Partnerships with African governments will align employability and sustainability initiatives within national tourism and labour strategies, embedding long-term workforce development pathways.
Through this collaboration, the aim is to strengthen Africa’s digital infrastructure for hospitality training and innovation. By empowering young people with technology-driven skills and connecting them with real career opportunities, the activity will help build a future-ready hospitality workforce that supports sustainable tourism growth across the continent.
The World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance brings together many of the world’s leading hotel companies, representing more than 300 hotel brands, 66,000 properties, and over eight million rooms. Working collaboratively with investors, suppliers, governments, and NGOs, the Alliance delivers practical programmes and resources that accelerate the industry’s progress towards Net Positive Hospitality—giving back more to destinations than it takes.
Together, the Alliance and the RTC are driving a shared vision for Africa’s hospitality future: one that embraces digital innovation, inclusivity, and sustainable development for generations to come.
