Düsseldorf, Germany — The World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance (the Alliance) and the China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA) have announced a landmark partnership which will advance the hospitality sector’s global transition toward sustainable, low-carbon development.

Announced on stage at the China–EU Solar & Energy Storage Industries Dialogue 2025 in Düsseldorf, this strategic partnership unites the hospitality sector’s decarbonisation efforts with the solar industry’s technological leadership and supply capacity.

Collaboration between the Alliance and CPIA aim to integrate the strengths of both organisations to accelerate renewable energy adoption across the hospitality value chain. By bridging clean-energy production with sustainable consumption, the Alliance and CPIA seek to drive practical, scalable solutions that will drive the industry towards Net Positive Hospitality.

Key objectives of the collaboration include:

  • Advancing renewable energy adoption within the global hospitality sector.
  • Promoting cross-industry cooperation connecting solar technology innovation with hospitality sustainability needs.
  • Enhancing dialogue between Chinese and European stakeholders to strengthen global climate cooperation.
  • Establishing a framework for joint projects, high-level research, and best-practice sharing in solar deployment and sustainable operations.

Through this partnership, the Alliance and CPIA will co-develop strategic insights, research publications, and implementation frameworks, including collaboration via the World Academy for Sustainable Hospitality to support industry-wide capacity building. The initiative will provide hotel groups with a clear, integrated pathway to renewable-energy adoption—spanning onsite solar potential, storage solutions, and long-term procurement models such as Renewable Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) that deliver stable, low-carbon electricity.

By linking the global hospitality industry with China’s dynamic clean-energy innovation ecosystem, the partnership aims to unlock new opportunities for cross-border collaboration, technology transfer, and scalable renewable-energy deployment.

Glenn Mandziuk, President and CEO of the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance says, “We are proud to announce a landmark partnership between the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance and the China Photovoltaic Industry Association. This collaboration connects one of the world’s largest energy-consuming sectors with a leading global hub of solar innovation, turning the hospitality industry’s significant annual investment into a driver of renewable energy transition. Built on five pillars—from a one-stop clean-energy pathway to global project collaboration and shared expertise—this agreement establishes a long-term, impact-driven framework for decarbonising our sector. We thank Mr. Ru and the CPIA team for their visionary partnership as we work together to power a sustainable future for hospitality.”

RU Jialin, Director of International Affairs of the China Photovoltaic Industry Association says, “The CPIA is delighted to join hands with the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance to advance the hotel sector’s transition to renewable electricity. With the rapid progress of solar and energy storage technologies, clean power is becoming more accessible, stable and cost-effective for hotels worldwide. Through this partnership, we will promote practical clean-energy solutions and scalable project cooperation, helping hotels reduce energy costs while accelerating low-carbon transformation. We thank Mr. Glenn Mandziuk and the WSHA team for their trust, and look forward to working together to build a more sustainable future for global hospitality.”
