The World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance recognises supply chain challenges for cage free egg initiatives and is committed to convening its members to explore viable solutions, and promote transparent, responsible supply chains. An update on current activity is outlined below:
Members of the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance are committed to exploring transparent and effective solutions for cage-free egg sourcing, with many members actively driving and reporting progress for years. In light of supply chain constraints like limited availability and avian flu, members of the Alliance are working with global suppliers to grow awareness and stimulate demand for responsibly sourced, affordable products. Various options to expand supply and a wide range of other strategies, including cage-free ‘credits’ will be examined through an assessment to determine the most viable solutions for members to consider in line with their business. The Alliance will continue to convene discussions that enable the industry to pursue viable pathways to improve supply chain availability and animal welfare, and our focus remains on developing robust, traceable and responsible supply chains aligned with the industry’s net-positive ambitions.
