At Jumeirah, we believe the hospitality industry has a collective responsibility to give back to our destinations more than we take and help tackle some of the global issues affecting our planet and its people.
Over the last 20 years, we’ve put a much heavier emphasis on reducing our environmental footprint, connecting people, cultures and communities to protect the places we call home. Today, as we focus on our ambitions for the future with our Mission 2030, we remain committed to identifying and co-creating new ways to incorporate sustainable and inclusive practices across our business ecosystem. For a future where everyone can thrive.
Our Environmental Social Governance (ESG) strategy is focused around 5 core pillars: Planet, People & Culture, Responsible Supply Chain, Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility – and sets the foundation for long-term value creation and sustainable business growth.
On our journey towards a more sustainable future, it is fundamental we measure impact and set targets to achieve our goals. We believe that to make a positive difference we need to collaborate not compete, so it’s important that we share what we are doing and work in partnership with our stakeholders and peers to make changes that matter.
For nearly two decades, the Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project (DTRP) has been instrumental in releasing over 2,000 rehabilitated turtles back into their natural habitats. These turtles receive diagnostic care and treatment by the dedicated team at Burj Al Arab’s Aquarium, before undergoing rehabilitation at the Turtle Lagoon, a purpose built sanctuary at Jumeirah Al Naseem. Here, visitors can witness their recovery in the lagoon and even participate in feeding them before their eventual release.
To engage guests in responsible food sourcing, fresh produce is offered through Arcadia’s urban hydroponic farm. Hosted by Arcadia, the hydroponic farm comes as a step to reinforce Jumeirah Zabeel Saray’s commitment towards a sustainable future, while adopting a greener approach to local food production.
