Thank you to all members who came together for our exclusive Spring Summit in May, where we explored the full details of our strategic vision and set our the action committees and councils that will help make our global ambition of net positive hospitality a reality. This summit also provided time to meet the latest participants of our growing community, and network with peers and colleagues.
While we believe it’s important to physically bring the industry together, we know that these events can carry a high carbon footprint. Therefore, we have partnered with Earthly to make our Spring Summit a Climate Positive Event.
Our first priority for our Summit was to eliminate avoidable emissions, for example, by improving energy efficiency, minimising excess procurement, and limiting waste generated. The Alliance worked closely with our procurement partners to address the sources of avoidable emissions as much as possible.
Going beyond this, Earthly helps companies invest in nature through high quality nature-based solutions that remove carbon, restore biodiversity and improve livelihoods. From kelp farms off the UK coast to regenerative farming in Tanzania to rainforests in Peru, all Earthly’s projects are handpicked for their carbon-busting power and focus on interventions that are invaluable in reversing climate breakdown.
By making our Spring Summit a Climate Positive Event, the Alliance has committed to balancing 110% of the carbon generated, not only removing its negative impact but going beyond to ensure a Net Positive climate impact. Importantly, this accounts for both direct and indirect emissions across Scope 1, 2 and 3, including guest and staff travel to and from the event.
This October we will once again be convening senior leaders from across and beyond the Alliance’s membership, at a high-level Summit – comprising world-leading hotel brands, operators, owners, investors and other partners, alongside the organisation’s strategic partners and collaborators.
The event will feature a range of expert speakers, from within and outside the industry, as we examine sustainability challenges and driving factors, and share best practice, experience and innovation.
